TRAVEL WITH EPIPEN BECAUSE OF FOOD ALLERGY

MUST HAVE WHEN TRAVELING WITH FOOD ALLERGIES

Most essential safety net when traveling with food allergies is to carry allergy free snacks and because  accidents do happen, be prepared—carry the epinephrine injectors on you.

“Must do” when traveling with food allergies:
Self carry epipen inside accessories that can be strapped to your body like a bra or underwear.

A good reason to keep all of your epipens on you.
Anyone regardless of their age should always carry snacks they can eat and their emergency meds  inside a "Body Wear" type of carrier.   Carry-on bags are not always easy to reach and more than often, a flight  attendant that is only doing his/her job tells you that the " overhead compartments are full" and that they need to take the back and not to worry because they will bring the bag back right after take off or they  give you a ticket so you can pick it up in baggage claims after landing.  What this really meas is that your bag and all of your first aid kit supplies is no where to be  reached until you land.  Depending on where you are going it could be two or twelve away.

Great airline service but not for all. Food Allergy=Not worth the risk.
If your life saving med are taken away..... Good Luck!

Epipen Carriers

Having the epinephrine auto injectors inside an undergarment epi pen carrier that will make it easy for food allergic kids, teens and adults to have immediate access to the epinephrine injectors in case of a severe allergic reaction is extremely important.  Placing them inside a bag even if it's a carry on could make it difficult to find them during an emergency... continue reading full article.

WHEN TRAVELING WITH FOOD ALLERGIES DON'T EAT AIRLINE MEALS OR SNACKS!

No airline will ever give you a guaranteed allergy free flight. Therefore, the most important strategy for avoiding reactions while flying is to bring your own snacks.
What some airlines are doing for passengers with food allergies:
Because peanuts is one of the most common food allergies, many airlines are now claiming that they do not serve packaged peanuts (i.e., peanuts are the only ingredient) in coach class but they might still serve peanuts in their first or business class cabin. For example some will sell snack items (e.g., trail mix, candy bars) in business and first class that contain peanuts as an ingredient and/or snack items that include a “may contain” advisory warning on the label.

Mylan Epipen Recall US 2017

On March 31, 2017 Epipen recall was expanded to US. #CheckEpipen.
Go to Drugstore or Pharmacy and make sure you are Carrying good ones.
Self Carry Your Epipen in You.

Epipen Recall a new batch in US

Mylan, the makers of Epipen have expanded the recall to USA. It all started in Canada and other countries outside the US.
Reason for recall is that some of the auto-injectors mechanism might not work properly. If this happens, the auto injectors could "get stuck" and not be able to provide the recommended amount of the epinephrine medication.

Go to your drugstore/pharmacy and make sure your epi's aren't part of the recall.
